Whether you study at CentraleSupélec School or work for a company on plateau Saclay, whenever the weekend comes up you can enjoy your free time. Unless you need to learn your lessons for the upcoming exam, do not be afraid to go for a visit of the region.
It is the weekend. You would like to explore the surrounding areas of the residence. If you are freshly arriving from abroad you are certainly excited to be visiting Paris. The residence is 12 miles away from Paris. Using public transportation you can take the bus to Le Guichet station where you can connect to the regional train RER B which takes you straight to Paris in less than 30 minutes:
• drop off at Luxembourg station and you are right in the middle of Quartier latin. Visit La Sorbonne and Le Panthéon before resting in Le Jardin du Luxembourg. Then have a coffee in the café of your choice around La place Contrescarpe ;
• drop off at Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station and you are still in Quartier latin, near la Fontaine Saint-Michel. Be sure to visit la Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris which is one of the most iconic monument of the city ;
• drop off Châtelet-les-Halles station which is the very heart of Paris. Go shopping in the mall Forum des Halles. If you prefer art you can go to Le Centre Pompidou (Beaubourg).
What about nature ?
If you are already familiar with Paris or if you like would like to discover the nature instead of the city, take a look at le Parc naturel regional de la vallée de Chevreuse. This 800 km² park is 6 miles away from the residence. Inside this large green area you will find beautiful places such as castles, abbeys, lakes and so on. There are miles and miles of path so you can enjoy hiking, biking and even horse riding.
Public transportation of the region is efficient enough to take you almost wherever you want. Do not be afraid to go for a visit during weekends. To organize your movements feel free to download an app on you smartphone to retrieve maps and schedules of train and bus lines (Vianavigo, SNCF, RATP).
